Cairo: According to Raaz News | The foreign ministers of Egypt and Saudi Arabia, in a new telephone consultation, warning of the dangerous consequences of escalating regional tensions, called on all relevant parties to exercise restraint, return to the path of dialogue, and cooperate with mediators' efforts to reach an understanding.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on Friday, in a telephone call with his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan, reviewed the latest regional developments and the two countries' joint efforts to prevent the escalation of tensions.
Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a statement on Saturday that the call was made within the framework of continuous consultations between Cairo and Riyadh regarding regional developments, as well as Egypt's intensive diplomatic efforts with Arab countries and relevant partners to support regional security and peace.
According to Nader Zaki, spokesperson for Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two ministers in this conversation reviewed the latest developments and joint initiatives to contain the crisis and emphasized the necessity of calling on all relevant parties to exercise restraint, prioritize dialogue and negotiation, and avoid any tension-provoking action.
Warning About the Consequences of Military Confrontation
The two sides also emphasized the need for the parties involved to respond positively to mediators' efforts to resolve differences and reach understandings on the basis of which the political path of the crisis can be pursued.
The foreign ministers of Egypt and Saudi Arabia warned that any military confrontation could severely undermine the security and stability of the region, have wide-ranging consequences, and return the crisis once again to its starting point.
They agreed to continue their consultations and coordination with various parties in order to pave the way for establishing peace, observing the principles of international law, and achieving a political and fundamental solution — a solution that prevents the expansion of the negative consequences of the crisis at the regional and international levels.
