Hezbollah Official: US Midterm Election Results Will Not Change Washington’s Hostile Policies Toward the Region
Ali Daamoush, head of Hezbollah’s Political Council, said on Friday that a potential defeat for Donald Trump and the Republicans in the US midterm elections, followed by a Democratic victory, would not alter Washington’s objectives toward the peoples of the region or its support for Israel.

BEIRUT: According to Raaz News I Ali Daamoush, head of Hezbollah’s Political Council, said on Friday that a potential defeat for Donald Trump and the Republicans in the US midterm elections, followed by a Democratic victory, would not alter Washington’s objectives toward the peoples of the region or its support for Israel.
Speaking during his Friday sermon, Daamoush said the objectives of successive US administrations had always been clear: to maintain control over the region and its countries and support the Israeli entity.
He stressed that Republicans and Democrats pursue essentially the same objectives in the region, although their methods may differ.
Daamoush said Trump’s potential electoral defeat would reflect the consequences of the war against Iran, Washington’s failures in the conflict, and a growing shift in American public opinion regarding Israel and the Palestinian issue.
However, he emphasized that these developments would not necessarily translate into a change in US policy toward Israel.
"Anyone who believes that US policy will change after the elections is under an illusion," he said.
The Hezbollah official also criticized Washington over its pressure to disarm the resistance while allowing Israel to continue its military operations.
He said the United States was providing Israel with the necessary political cover through the framework agreement while simultaneously pressing for the disarmament of the resistance.
