Riyadh: According to Raaz News | The UK Minister of State for the Middle East, in a meeting with Rashad al-Alimi, head of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council (representing Saudi-backed forces), emphasized the continuation of London's humanitarian aid. At the same time, within the framework of its defense support for Saudi Arabia, the UK is pursuing a plan to deploy Typhoon fighter jets to counter missile and drone attacks by Yemen's armed forces (Ansarullah).
Stephen Doughty, the UK Minister of State for the Middle East, announced that his country will continue to stand by Saudi-backed forces and will maintain vital humanitarian aid to support them.
Doughty announced in a post on the X platform on Thursday that he had met with Rashad al-Alimi, representative of Saudi-backed forces, in Riyadh, the Saudi capital, early last week, during which the latest developments in the Yemen crisis and regional developments were reviewed.
Another part of the consultations was devoted to preparations for holding an international conference in late November — a meeting aimed at mobilizing economic and humanitarian support for Saudi-backed forces in Yemen.
London's Military Support for Saudi Arabia; Typhoon Fighter Jets' Defensive Mission
In a related development, the UK Minister of State on Monday emphasized the continuation of his country's support for Saudi Arabia against attacks by Yemen's armed forces, saying that London's commitment to its allies does not remain at the level of political statements but is accompanied by practical measures.
In an interview with Al-Arabiya English, Doughty claimed that London's diplomatic efforts regarding Iran and its allied groups in the region are aimed at reducing tensions and preventing the expansion of the crisis.
In this context, the UK has increased its military-defense support for Saudi Arabia and has placed on its agenda a plan to deploy Typhoon fighter jets of the Royal Air Force to protect important Saudi cities and vital infrastructure against Ansarullah's ballistic missile and drone attacks.
The UK Ministry of Defense has emphasized that the mission of these fighter jets will be purely defensive and that they will not participate in offensive operations or airstrikes.
