DOHA_ Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in internal security, according to a statement issued by Pakistan’s Interior Ministry on Tuesday.

The two ministers met in Doha and held a detailed exchange of views on ways to enhance cooperation in internal security. They also discussed the current regional situation and matters related to peace and stability.

According to the statement, the meeting reaffirmed both sides’ commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and partnership between their respective interior ministries.

The meeting took place a day after Naqvi addressed the 8th Global Security Forum in Doha, where he said Pakistan and Qatar had worked together to promote regional peace and stability.

Naqvi also recalled the Lake Lucerne Summit in Switzerland, organised by Pakistan and Qatar to facilitate talks between the United States and Iran.

Praising Qatar’s role in peace efforts, Naqvi said the two countries shared the objective of preventing further conflict and saving innocent lives. He noted that while some countries had chosen sides, Qatar had continued to pursue dialogue, an approach Pakistan had witnessed through its close cooperation with Doha.

Naqvi last met Al Thani in Doha on July 28, when the two discussed security cooperation and ways to further strengthen bilateral relations in the security sector.
