Seoul: According to Raaz News | Pakistan and South Korea have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance judicial cooperation, promote institutional exchanges, and advance the use of modern technologies in the administration of justice.

The agreement was signed by the Chief Justices of Pakistan and the Republic of Korea during the Pakistani Chief Justice’s official visit to Seoul. South Korean Chief Justice Jo Hee-de received his Pakistani counterpart at the Supreme Court of Korea, where the two sides discussed ways to deepen cooperation between their judicial institutions.

The MoU establishes a framework for collaboration in judicial exchanges, professional training, capacity building, legal research, judicial education, and the sharing of best practices. It also places particular emphasis on judicial reform and modernization, including the development of e-courts, digital justice services, smart court systems, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence in judicial administration.

Focus on Digital Transformation and Judicial Innovation

Under the agreement, both countries will explore opportunities for reciprocal delegations, professional attachments, study visits, and exchanges of judicial experts. Joint conferences, seminars, periodic high-level dialogue, and closer institutional coordination will also form part of the cooperation framework.

During the visit, Pakistan’s Chief Justice also met Justice NOH Gyeongpil, Minister of the National Court Administration of South Korea. Their discussions focused on judicial administration, institutional governance, technological innovation, and modern approaches to court management.

Pakistan Explores South Korea’s Digital Court Systems

The Pakistani delegation also visited the Supreme Court of Korea’s Information Technology Centre, where it was briefed on the country’s digital court infrastructure, technology-enabled judicial services, and systems designed to improve the efficiency of court operations.

The visit provided an opportunity to examine South Korea’s experience in digitalizing judicial processes and explore areas where institutional knowledge and technological expertise could support ongoing judicial reforms in Pakistan.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to South Korea, Syed Moazzam Shah, accompanied the Chief Justice throughout the visit.

The agreement marks a step towards stronger judicial ties between Islamabad and Seoul. It is also expected to create opportunities for Pakistan to benefit from South Korea’s experience in digital justice, institutional modernization, and technology-driven court administration.
